Our Lady of Beauraing

Our Lady of Beauraing refers to a series of some thirty-three apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary to five children of two families in the town of Beauraing in Belgium, between November 1932 and January 1933. The Virgin appeared to them near a hawthorn tree in the garden of a convent school, a young and radiant lady who smiled upon them and called them to be good, to pray always, and to make sacrifices for the conversion of sinners.

In her final apparitions the Virgin revealed her heart shining like gold, so that she came to be honored as the "Virgin of the Golden Heart," and she identified herself as the Immaculate Virgin and the Mother of God, asking that a chapel be built and pilgrims come. After careful and prolonged examination, the Church recognized the apparitions and approved the devotion to Our Lady of Beauraing in 1949, and the site became a place of pilgrimage. The feast is kept on 22 August, the memorial of the Queenship of Mary.
