St. Mugagga Lubowa was one of the youngest of the Martyrs of Uganda, a page at the court of King Mwanga II of Buganda who embraced the Catholic faith taught by the missionaries and the older Christian pages, and was baptized in the very hour of persecution.
When the king condemned the young Christians of his household in 1886, Mugagga refused to renounce his faith and was among those led to Namugongo, where he was burned alive on 3 June 1886 with St. Charles Lwanga and his companions. Canonized by Pope Paul VI in 1964, he is celebrated among the Uganda Martyrs on 3 June.
