CrucisSt. Mukasa Kiriwawanvu
St. Mukasa Kiriwawanvu was one of the Martyrs of Uganda, a young convert attached to the court of King Mwanga II of Buganda who embraced the Catholic faith and stood firm with his companions when King Mwanga launched his persecution of the Christians in his household.
Condemned with the other pages in 1886, he was among those led to Namugongo and burned alive there on 3 June 1886, giving his life in fidelity to Christ alongside St. Charles Lwanga and his fellow martyrs. Canonized by Pope Paul VI in 1964, he is celebrated among the Uganda Martyrs on 3 June.
