The 100-Year Prophecy. From Leo XIII to Leo XIV

For more than a century, the Church has endured extraordinary upheaval: wars, persecution, moral collapse, loss of faith, and deep internal crisis.

Two prophetic events become especially intriguing when viewed together: the famous vision associated with Pope Leo XIII and the apparitions of Our Lady of Fatima.

Neither allows us to predict the future with certainty. But their timelines reveal a remarkable pattern—one that points toward the years 2029–2031.

Pope Leo XIII and the Century of Trial

According to a longstanding Catholic tradition, Pope Leo XIII experienced an extraordinary vision after celebrating Mass in the 1880s. Later accounts describe him perceiving a dialogue between Christ and Satan concerning an intensified attack upon the Church.

In the commonly repeated version, Satan declared:

“I can destroy your Church.”

He then asked for greater power and 75 to 100 years in which to accomplish his work.

Shortly afterward, Leo XIII composed the famous Prayer to Saint Michael the Archangel, asking for protection against “the wickedness and snares of the devil.”

The exact dialogue comes from later accounts and should not be treated as a formally authenticated prophecy. But the tradition raises a fascinating question: when would those 100 years begin?

Some count from Leo XIII himself. Others believe the principal assault was directed not against nations, but against the Church herself—her doctrine, worship, priesthood, morality, and unity. Under that interpretation, the internal crisis that erupted in the mid-twentieth century becomes particularly significant.

Fatima, however, gives us another possible 100-year timeline—and a much more specific starting point.

Fatima and the King of France

On July 13, 1917, Our Lady announced at Fatima that she would later return to request the consecration of Russia to her Immaculate Heart.

That request came on June 13, 1929, when Our Lady told Sister Lucia at Tuy:

“The moment has come for God to ask the Holy Father to make, in union with all the bishops of the world, the consecration of Russia to my Immaculate Heart.”

Then, in 1931, Sister Lucia reported a striking warning from Our Lord:

“Make it known to My ministers, given that they follow the example of the King of France in delaying the execution of My command, they will likewise follow him into misfortune.”
